1. Our approach
BPNet Games is designed to collect as little personal information as reasonably necessary to operate the games. We do not sell personal information and we do not use third-party advertising networks.
2. Information we may collect
Information you provide
- Username or display name.
- Password, stored as a secure password hash rather than plain text.
- An optional email address if a game offers account features that request it.
- Information you voluntarily send when contacting the site operator.
Gameplay and account information
- Game progress, levels, scores, moves, completion times, achievements, rewards, and leaderboard results.
- Puzzle or challenge identifiers needed to reproduce shared games.
- Account login/session information required to keep you signed in.
Technical information
- Basic server logs such as IP address, browser/user-agent information, requested pages, timestamps, and error information.
- Local storage, cookies, or similar browser storage used for settings, guest progress, sessions, sound preferences, and game functionality.
- Aggregate usage analytics where enabled for a particular BPNet game or page. Analytics are used to understand usage and improve the games, not to build advertising profiles.
3. Why we use information
We use information to operate the games, authenticate accounts, save progress, provide leaderboards and achievements, reproduce shared challenges, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, understand general usage, maintain security, and improve BPNet.
4. Consent and limiting collection
Where personal information is collected, we aim to explain the purpose clearly and limit collection to information reasonably needed for that purpose. You can use some BPNet features as a guest where available, although account-based syncing or leaderboards may require an account.
5. Cookies and browser storage
BPNet and its games may use first-party cookies, session identifiers, and browser local storage for essential functions such as sign-in, settings, progress, and audio preferences. We do not use these technologies to serve targeted advertising.
6. Analytics
Some BPNet properties may use self-hosted or privacy-conscious analytics to measure visits and game usage. Depending on the configuration, analytics may process technical information such as browser type, approximate network information, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps. Analytics data is used for site operation and improvement.
7. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate the site, such as web hosting, database, security, email, analytics, or optional donation providers. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the security of the service, or to investigate abuse.
8. Public information
If you participate in a leaderboard or share a challenge, your username, score, game result, or challenge details may be visible to other users or included in a shared link. Do not use a username that reveals information you do not want to make public.
9. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, legal or security requirements, and operation of the games. Old logs, abandoned accounts, or gameplay records may be deleted or anonymized. Because BPNet is an evolving independent project, we cannot promise permanent storage of game progress.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to a small web service, including password hashing, server-side authentication, access controls, and encrypted HTTPS connections where supported. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
11. Access, correction and deletion
You may ask about personal information associated with your account, request correction of inaccurate information, or request deletion where applicable. We may need enough information to verify that the request relates to you before acting on it. Some information may need to be retained where permitted or required for legal, fraud-prevention, security, or recordkeeping purposes.
12. Children
BPNet games are general-audience casual games and are not intentionally designed to collect personal information from young children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact the site operator so the situation can be reviewed.
13. International access
BPNet is operated from Canada but can be accessed from other countries. Information may be processed or stored where our hosting or service providers operate, and privacy laws may differ between jurisdictions.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the site, games, or services change. The current version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
15. Privacy contact
For privacy questions or concerns, including access, correction, or deletion requests, contact BPNet Games at gaming@bpnet.ca.
